Gana Adhikar Reports:Gana Adhikar in its 5th January, 2016 issue published a news item by one Ashraful Hussain, Pune, captioned “এন আৰ চি উন্নীতকৰণত চৰম হঠকাৰিতা” 
wherein the name of an applicant viz. Haidar Ali Khan s/o Rahman Khan of village Baisha under Sarthebari Revenue Circle in Barpeta district is alleged to have been recorded in a tampered name in the Verification Team’s Report format. The incident alleged to be a handiwork of some vested group has reportedly hurt the sentiment of Haidar Ali Khan.
Our Response : The incident had already come to the notice of the NRC authority before it was published in “Gana Adhikar”. The works of digitization of Application Form is being done by outsourcing through WIPRO Ltd while generation of Verification Team’s Report (VTR) is being done by outsourcing through M/S Bohniman Systems Pvt Ltd, Guwahati. This matter was instantly enquired into and a report taken from Wipro Ltd which revealed that a data entry operator who is already identified seems to have done some mischief in changing the name of the applicant during data entry revealing in the Verification Team’s Report (VTR) so generated. Immediately, an FIR was filed by the NRC authority and accordingly a criminal case bearing Chandmari PS Case No.03/2016 u/s 120(B)/408/420/504 IPC has been registered. The police have already arrested the culprit. This is an isolated incident which happened due to a perverse act on the part of an individual contractual data entry operator.
