What is Legacy Data?
The documents namely 1951 NRC (National Register of Citizens) and Pre 1971 Electoral Rolls are collectively called as the Legacy Data.
What is the importance of Legacy Data?
» |
Legacy Data is the primary set of documents admissible to prove the claim of citizenship for inclusion in NRC updated for the state of Assam. The Government have made the Legacy Data available to public where you can search your own names or names of your ancestors to apply for inclusion in NRC. |
» |
In case of the persons for whom not your own, but your forefathers’ name appear in the Legacy Data, you have to establish linkage with the name/person appearing in the database. In order to ensure easy search of entries in these vast databases, the data available in hardcopies is digitized and a search engine is developed in Assamese, English & Bengali. |

How to access Legacy Data?
Legacy Data is available at the following locations:
NRC Seva Kendra (NSKs):
(A) PUBLISHED COPIES:
Legacy Data is published as photocopies of the existing original documents at NSKs. Each NSK have the segregated data for the villages falling under the respective Kendra. Each page of the Legacy Data document shall carry an Image ID number, which can be quoted to the operators at NSKs or be searched online in this website to access that particular page in the digitized database for generation of a unique Legacy Data Code against the entry searched for.
(B) DIGITIZED DATA:
The NSK also have the easily searchable digitized Legacy Data linked with the actual image of the original legacy documents to instill a sense of credibility and authenticity of the data. One NSK consists of the database of the entire state for easy search of data from any part of the state that makes the searching very easy for people who have changed residence after 1971. In that case one would not require going in search of Legacy Data in the original place of residence of himself/herself of his/her ancestors during the period Legacy Data capturing i.e. before 1971.
Search of the digitized data can be performed through name search of any person in any of the three languages namely English, Assamese & Bengali, or even through image search of a village to see if ones name figures in the database of the respective village.
Unique Legacy Data Code is generated against each record figuring in the Database. The Unique Code will establish the distinct identity of the persons which would immensely be useful for searching by applicants and verification by officials.
Once the entry is found, printout of the exact carrying the Unique Legacy Data code to be cited in the Application Form is provided free of cost at the NSKs to public.
POLLING STATIONS:
Legacy Data is also published as hard copies in all the Polling Stations segregated for the villages falling under the respective Polling Station. Same as the physical copies available in NSKs, the database given at Polling Stations will carry an ID number which can then be quoted at the NSK or in this web-site to access the database in the computer for obtaining unique Legacy Data Code against a particular entry.
NRC WEBSITE:
You can access the Legacy Data in this website. Go to the extreme bottom right of the Home page and click at the
icon DLDD PUBLICATION.
You can log in the website using One Time Password received through mobile number registration. Same as in NSKs, the search here could be performed in any of the three languages cited above using either Name search or through search of the database for a village or villages where you might have resided during preparation of NRC 1951 or any of the Electoral Rolls upto 1971. On finding the entries looked for, printout of the particular entry in the Legacy Database and the Legacy Data Code can be taken from the website.
